Haecksen - Production Design Teaser

A childrens movie shot inside a computer game? What sounds like an easy job is in fact the creation of a complete virtual world, production design showing similarities to today's online games while making it more interesting and exciting to watch, pushing the envelope of interactivity for the director as well as his cast. In early 2008 Niko film approached us, asking us for support, doing something fresh. The first step in designing the virtual world was to create a custom in-house script package that would randomly create unique and gigantic city scapes from architectural accurate base geometry. CG Supervisor Christian Pundschus designed the look, making it smooth and artificial while blending in real life details like advanced lighting. Technical director Kariem Saleh created the script suite "urban grid", easily putting together vast sets in seconds. Anna Marschall provided the professional architectural knowledge, creating a huge number of models for all types of buildings.
